The Climate Simulator

The Climate Simulator is a platform that lets you take control of climate statistics. By utilising data points in an engaging and challenging way, the Climate Simulator teaches users the importance of climate action by allowing them to interact with the statistics and see the results for themselves. The Climate Simulator presents a playful, unique take on a complex, data driven environmental issue. The platform allows users to use real data to discover what factors influence the environment and make decisions that will change the environment to reflect how these factors may change Australia in the future, for better or worse. Not only will these factors affect the environment but users can also see how changing certain factors can impact the citizens’ quality of life. The interpretation of the data is in the users hands.

The Problem

While climate information is critically important to the future of our country, it is often poorly understood. The Climate Simulator gives people a way to engage with the statistics, and offer some insights into its purpose and how the data is used.

THe design process

The design process began with researching design trends and identifying opportunities within my field of interest. After finalising my research, I moved on to brainstorming initial concepts that I presented for feedback and review. Following discussion with my Lecturer and peers, I chose to move forward with further developing my digital landscape project.
